Programme Structure & Supervision

Structured Research Development with Expert Academic Guidance

The Postdoctoral Research Programme follows a structured 12-month research framework designed to support independent scholarly inquiry, academic development and the achievement of agreed research objectives.

Research Supervision

Each participant is assigned a Primary Research Supervisor or Principal Investigator from ISBM University London or an approved collaborating institution. Supervisors provide academic guidance, monitor research progress and advise on research methodologies, scholarly publications and dissemination activities.

Where appropriate, joint supervision may be arranged with academics from collaborating institutions, including ISBM University India, or relevant research and industry organisations.

Individual Research Development Plan

At the beginning of the programme, participants develop an Individual Research Development Plan in consultation with their supervisor. This establishes research objectives, methodology, anticipated outputs, publication strategy and key milestones for the 12-month period.

Research Progression & Monitoring

Participants engage regularly with their supervisors throughout the programme. Formal quarterly progress reviews assess research development, achievement of agreed milestones, scholarly outputs and any challenges affecting the research project.

Flexible Research Engagement

Research activities and academic supervision are conducted primarily online, allowing participants to continue their existing academic or professional commitments. Optional campus engagement may be arranged at ISBM University London or ISBM University India.

Entry Requirements & Admissions

Join an International Community of Research Scholars

The Postdoctoral Research Programme welcomes applications from doctoral-qualified researchers seeking to advance their academic research, strengthen their publication profiles and develop international scholarly collaborations.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must hold a recognised doctoral qualification (PhD, DBA or equivalent) in business, management or a related discipline.

Applicants should demonstrate the academic capability, research experience and commitment necessary to undertake independent research at postdoctoral level. Applications from both early-career researchers and experienced academics or professionals are welcomed.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit:

  • A completed application form.
  • An up-to-date academic or professional Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Evidence of their doctoral qualification.
  • A research proposal of approximately 2,000–3,000 words outlining the research objectives, theoretical context, proposed methodology and anticipated contribution to knowledge.
  • A recent academic publication, thesis chapter or other relevant research writing sample.

Admission and Selection

Applications are assessed based on academic qualifications, research experience, the quality and feasibility of the proposed research, alignment with the University’s research priorities and the availability of appropriate academic supervision.

Admission decisions are made through the University’s established academic admissions procedures.

Research & Completion Requirements

Demonstrating Research Excellence and Scholarly Achievement

Successful completion of the Postdoctoral Research Programme requires satisfactory research progression, sustained academic engagement and the achievement of prescribed research and scholarly dissemination requirements.

Research Progression

Participants must undertake their approved research project in accordance with their Individual Research Development Plan. Progress is monitored through regular academic supervision and quarterly reviews, assessing research milestones, methodological rigour and scholarly development.

International Research Conferences

Participants must attend and present their research at two ISBM University international research conferences during the programme. Presentations should demonstrate research development, communicate emerging findings and contribute to academic discussion.

Research Publication Requirements

Participants are expected to produce high-quality scholarly publications arising from their approved research project.

The publication requirements may be fulfilled through either of the following:

  • Option A: One research article published or accepted for publication in a journal indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) or Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI).
  • Option B: Two research articles published or accepted for publication in journals indexed in Scopus or EI Compendex.

Publications should relate to the participant’s approved research theme or a closely associated area.

Where manuscripts have successfully completed internal academic review and have been submitted to appropriate journals but remain under consideration, the Postdoctoral Programme Steering Committee may exercise limited discretion in approving programme completion, taking into account research quality, evidence of journal submission and overall academic achievement.

Final Research Submission & Presentation

At the conclusion of the programme, participants must submit a final research report outlining their objectives, methodology, findings, contributions to knowledge and scholarly outputs.

Participants must also deliver a final research presentation to an academic panel. This may be conducted online or at ISBM University London or ISBM University India.

Assessment & Certification

Successful completion is determined through an evaluation of research progression, conference presentations, scholarly publications, final research submission and academic engagement.

Participants who successfully fulfil the programme requirements receive an ISBM University London Certificate of Completion and Research Achievement Statement, documenting their research achievements and scholarly contributions.
